SQL Server Developer/DBA

Marketron Interactive is seeking an experienced Database Developer / DBA with a minimum of 5 years experience, to participate in the development of new online products and services supporting the company’s various media properties/affiliates.

Responsibilities
  • Create, implement, and maintain database tables, stored procedures, and user defined-functions using Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 to provide the all of the database functionality in an n-tier environment supporting online real time applications and batch-oriented processing.
  • Work closely with our team of Web developers (using an Agile development process) to assist in the development of the data tier of online real time applications.
  • Importing structured and unstructured data from various sources.
  • Ensure that development, QA and Production systems are available and in the correct configuration with the correct data for standard Development / QA / Production life cycle.
  • Ensure data integrity, data retention, backups, and disaster planning in support of all applications and database environments.
  • Participate in rotating on-call emergency support schedule and occasional late-night system maintenance and code deployment events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive responsibilities in Microsoft SQL Server database administration, maintenance, and development.
  • Must be experienced creating databases, tables, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Must be experienced at importing exporting data in multiple formats using SSIS, DTS, T-SQL, and bcp.
  • Demonstrated expertise in query optimization and tuning, including cross database and cross server queries.
  • Experience with Visual Studio Team System for Database Professionals / Visual Studio Team System Database Edition 2008 preferred.
  • Experience participating in a formal software development lifecycle, preferably using an Agile methodology.
  • Experience working with SQL Server Reporting Services and other standard reporting mechanisms.
  • Experience working with data warehouses/data marts using Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server Architecture (SQL Server 2005/2008).
  • Ability to manage all database maintenance activities including backups, indexing, integrity and consistency checking.
  • Knowledge and experience in administration of SQL Server database environments (optimization/tuning/backup/recovery), including SQL Server Integration Services, clustering, log shipping, replication and other advanced SQL Server implementations.
  • Experience running and supporting large scale database environments (1+ TB size) under high transaction volumes.
  • Experience in database administration in 24x7x365 high traffic Internet applications environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of current hardware systems, RAID and disk subsystems (including SAN technologies and blade server systems) commonly used in fault tolerant production environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008 operating systems.
  • MCDBA preferred.
